Ben's Journey with Intimacy Direction

Ben Robertson helps people feel at ease while handling complex and intense depictions of intimacy. Ben helps directors bring their vision to life while ensuring their actors are supported throughout the process. He is trained in a variety of theatre styles and has depicted various intimacy scenes of differing tones and scales.

Ben became interested in Intimacy Direction during his theatre studies, over the course of which, he had both personally experienced and seen his peers being put into uncomfortable situations during scenes of intimacy without guidance or support. So, after learning about the emerging field of Intimacy Direction, he knew this was a movement he wanted to be a part of. Through his training with the Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC), Ben has learned how to craft detailed stories through intimacy choreography while advocating for all parties involved.

Ben hopes to be a crucial resource for both directors and actors alike to ensure that they receive the care and support he wished was available when he started in the field.
